Thought for the Week - courtesy of your Yoof Leadership Team

 What about your heart.

As Jesus was walking down a road, a man ran up to him. He knelt down, and asked, "Good teacher, what can I do to have eternal life?...Jesus looked closely at the man. He liked him and said, "There's one thing you still need to do. Go sell everything you own. Give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven. Then come with me. When the man heard Jesus say this, he went away gloomy and sad because he was very rich

Mark 10 17 and 21-22

On Sunday we thought about the 'hole in our lives' if we do not fill our hearts with Jesus. The Rich young man held back from giving all of himself to follow Jesus. There was a hole left in his life. The challenge is to think about whether you are 'all for Jesus or not'

What if God was one of us?

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—

      even death on a cross!

Philippians 2 (5-8)

Yoof on Sunday night - we thought about this big question - Does God understand us? How can he know what it is like to be a meagre weak  human. n After all he is the creator of the universe.

In coming in Jesus he experienced every form of human suffering, pain, loss, loneliness. Jesus knew what it was to have his friends run out on  him. He knew the joy of close friendships and the hurt of loss.  God knows what it is like to be us - because he was one of us...

"Then he said to his disciples, The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." (Matthew 9 37-38)

We are coming up to a time in our church at Easter when we are planning a number of 'outreach' events.  At Yoof this week we thought about how we can be practical about asking friends along to the various events that are going on.  In this passage Jesus was preparing his disciples for a big job. He wanted them to go out and get busy talking to peopls and showing them God's love and concern for them.  Think about taht this week in all you do at school or college - WE ARE THE WORKERS IN THE HARVEST!
